Tuckpointing
Mortar is the material that binds brick and stone. Years of weathering often causes mortar joints to deteriorate. When water is absorbed into mortar, it can freeze during the winter months, expanding within the mortar and causing it to crumble. This causes brick and stone to loosen and crack. Tuckpointing is the process of grinding out old deteriorated mortar and replacing it with new mortar. Our skilled crew carefully selects the proper mortar mix and tools to compliment your existing mortar color and joint design.
Chimney Repair
Chimneys are usually the first part of a masonry building to manifest signs of deterioration. This is mostly due to the fact that chimneys are constantly bombarded by rain and snow. When a chimney becomes saturated with moisture and the temperature drops below freezing, damage can occur. Cracked or broken cap will result in water penetration to the top courses of your chimney and will cause disintegration to the point where masonry repair is mandatory. When the majority of the brick on a chimney are spalling, flaking, cracking, displacing or even missing it is time to rebuild the chimney.
Masonry Repair
When you have a couple of damaged bricks on the wall and moisture finds its way into the defected brick and freezes, it will cause the brick to spall, deflect or displace. Once that happens the brick is useless as it offers no structural support to the masonry wall. Replacing the damaged brick will prevent water damage from spreading to the remaining healthy brick.
